Erin Lae is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (MFT #52711) with 20 years of experience working with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Erin got her Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2004, where she completed a double major in Sociology and Psychology. Erin began her career providing supportive counseling services to at-risk youth in Hollywood, FL, while working towards her MS in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University.
Upon completion of her MS, Erin began working at regional recovery centers in San Diego County, providing mental health counseling to people with a substance use diagnosis. Erin earned her California LMFT in 2012 and has built a career working as a licensed therapist in the co-occurring treatment space. She has worked in direct client care as well as supervisory positions in both nonprofit and private treatment programs.
Erin has completed advanced training and mentorship in evidenced-based practices, including motivational interviewing (MI), brief strategic therapy (BST), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Most recently, Erin completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR training in 2020. For the past four years, Erin has been working as the Clinical Director for Safe and Sound Treatment, providing therapy services and overseeing all aspects of clinical care.
